Game Profile: Revolution

Make Your Bid For Power

Mechanics Auction Bid, Area Control
Publication Steve Jackson Games, 2009
Ages 13+
Time 60
Players 3 - 4
Description

In Revolution players secretly bid against their opponents to gain the support of the people, win territory...and gather more Gold, Blackmail, and Force for the next round of bidding!

Each player has their own bid board, divided into spaces.  Each space represents an influential person who can help their cause and indicates the benefits that person will bestow if you win him in the bidding process.  Players simultaneously place their bidding tokens on their bid boards secretly behind a screen.  Bids are revealed and resolved once everyone has placed them.  There are 3 types of bidding tokens from strongest to weakest: force, blackmail, and gold.  The game is played in rounds of 4 phases each.

Will you control the tavern or the fortress? The Harbor or the Plantation? Knowing where to push for support - and where to back away and let your opponents fight - is the key to victory. It's a game of bluff, counter-bluff, and surprise.
