Board Game Arrivals: August 18 - 24th


This week's game arrivals included these much anticipated expansions and a couple of new games:

Castellan
Steve Jackson Games

Newly released from Steve Jackson Games is Castellan.  

2 players work together to build a castle but compete to control it.  Wall and tower pieces link together to form courtyards which you'll try to claim with a Keep.  You must be clever in placing your wall and tower pieces so that you gain as towers in your courtyards without adding points to your opponent.

Pandemic: In The Lab
Z-Man Games
New from Z-Man Games is this new expansion to the popular cooperative game, Pandemic.  Pandemic: In The Lab brings new roles, 2 add-on's to the challenges in the On The Brink expansion, and these 3 new ways to play:

Lab Challenge - take samples and develop cures in the lab.  Cures must be developed in the lab before they can be discovered.

Solo Game - you, with a little help from the CDC, are on your own.

Team Challenge - cooperate with a partner against rival teams racing to cure and eradicate, prevent outbreaks, and gain prestige points.  Prestige points are gained when a team meets the goal outlined on their specific goal card.  The team with the most prestige points at the end of the game wins.

Lords of Waterdeep:Board Game -
Scoundrels of Skullport Expansion

Wizards of the Coast
Also newly released is Scoundrels of Skullport from Wizards of the Coast, an expansion to Lords of Waterdeep:The Board Game.  Scoundrels of Skullport adds a new faction, The Gray Hands, allowing up to 6 players and also contains these two new modules:
Undermountain - a vast and multilevel dungeon beneath Mount Waterdeep...  The focus is on new quests with great demands and greater rewards.

Skullport  - aka: Port of Shadow, is nestled in the heart of Undermountain, deep below the streets of Waterdeep... The focus is on a new resource - Corruption and the risks associated with being corrupt.

Patch your fellow crew members up as the crotchety Doc Cottle, or argue your way out of a tight spot as the clever Romo Lampkin. Set Junior
Set Enterprises

Adding to our kids section is Set Junior just out from Set Enterprises.

Set Junior, aimed at kids ages 3+ contains a two-sided board.  On one side kids learn what a set is by matching their tile to a tile on the board.  Start to recognize Sets while matching color, number and symbols.  Once familiar with what a makes a Set, flip the board over and play Side 2.  On Side 2 kids can race to find as many Sets as they can.
